Carol Ann Coppley Kirkus, 73, of Becks Church Road, died Monday, September 26, 2011, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, following a six week illness.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2011, at Jersey Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Dr. Michael Collier and Rev. Morris Hollifield officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, Darren Kirkus on Roger Road.
Mrs. Kirkus was born March 18, 1938, in Davidson County, to Chelsie Lee Coppley and Bertha Cody Coppley. She was retired from Dixie Furniture after 47 years of service as an inspector. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Austin Coppley and Lewis Coppley Sr.
Surviving are sons, Terry Kirkus and wife, Tina, Darren Kirkus and wife, Shannon, all of Lexington, and Fran Kirkus and wife, Mary, of Statesville; grandchildren, Jason Kirkus and wife, Stacey, Camie Kirkus and fiance, Rick Sousa, Chuck Boyd, Anthony Fine, Ashley Murdock, and Brandi Lollis and husband, Justin; nine great-grandchildren; and sisters, Elsie Starr, Louise Lookabill, Betty Surratt, Rachel Hamm and husband, Jimmy, Jonie Myers and husband, Roger, and Evelyne Swing and husband, Bobby, all of Lexington.
