Carol Walser Matthews

Carol Annette Walser Matthews, 82, of Terrie Drive of Winston Salem, died Monday October 18, 2021 at her home.

A funeral service will be held 4:00 pm Friday October 22, 2021 at Oak Forest United Methodist Church, where she a member, with Rev. Rick Carter officiating services. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel, Winston-Salem.

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, it is requested that everyone that attends visitation and funeral service to please wear a face covering.

Mrs. Matthews was born May 19, 1939 in Davidson County to Emory Nesbert Walser and Minnie Leola Yokley Walser. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, traveling, spending time with her family and activities at her church. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Alan Matthews.

Surviving is her husband Carl Matthews, of the home; her daughter Carla Dry of Lexington; 3 grandchildren, Lisa Matthews Zimmerman (Travis), Matthew Dry (Kaitlyn) and Jonathan Dry (Lexi Elder) and 1 great-grandchild, Tristan Zimmerman.

Memorials may be made to  Oak Forest United Methodist Church, B.E.A.R. Closet (Baby Essentials), 1461 Old US 52, Winston Salem 27107.
