Carolyn “Big Red” Elizabeth Lawson Byerly, 74, of Lexington, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, February 3, 2025 at Hinkle Hospice House.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025 at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington. A graveside service will follow and be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025 at Lexington City Cemetery with Pastor James D Messer Jr. officiating.
Carolyn was born on June 13, 1950 in Greensboro, NC to the late Charlie Clifton Lawson and Alice Elizabeth Snyder Lawson Overly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Roger Wells, second husband, Bruce Byerly, and third husband, Delmar Byerly; and five brothers, Pete Lawson, Cliff Lawson, Carl Lawson, Johnny Lawson, and Roger Lawson.
Carolyn spent many years working at the Lexington Furniture Company as well as worked as a caregiver, providing comfort and care to all the lives she encountered. She loved to sing Gospel Music with her family, an inspiring gift to all who heard. She faithfully attended Pilgrim Freewill Baptist Church. She also cherished her beloved Shih Tzu, Sugar, who remained close to her heart and a constant companion over the years.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Patricia “Pat” Lawson Cockerham; nieces, Jennie (Brad) Copeland and Jane Cockerham, and nephews, Ron (Jackie) Cockerham, John (Debbie) Cockerham, and Jimmy Cockerham, who will all miss her dearly.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hinkle Hospice House at 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292. The family would like to thank Hospice for all their loving care during this time and especially thank Linda for her compassion and kindness.
