Mrs. Carolyn Ann Askew Dudley, 84, of Southmont, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 12, 2025.
A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Stoner’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor John Bishop officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
Carolyn was born in Wilson County, NC, on April 30, 1941, to the late Paul and Leona Lamm Askew. She was a faithful member of Stoner’s Grove Baptist Church, where she dearly loved her church family. Carolyn enjoyed simple joys in life—working word search puzzles, spending time at the lake, and caring for those around her. She was a manager with Shoe Show for many years and also worked alongside her husband, Odell, in their vending business.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Odell Dudley, Jr.; a son, Randall Dudley; and her sisters, Grace Chider and Marjorie Vick.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, David Sweeney, Jr., Janet Sweeney Melin, and Michael Dudley (Theresa); her brother, Paul Askew; her sister, Jean Batts; her niece, Andrea Coleman; grandchildren, Dustin and Brianna Melin; and her loving caretakers, Chris and Bobbi Coble.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who loved and cared for Carolyn.
Memorials may be directed to Stoner’s Grove Baptist Church, P.O. Box 183, Southmont, NC 27351.
