Carolyn Leonard Essick

Carolyn Leonard Essick, 77, of Lexington, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014, at her home. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Center United Methodist Church in Welcome, where she was a member. The service will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Stephen Pillsbury. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. Carolyn was born March 21, 1936 in Davidson County to Numa Leonard and Frances Wagner Leonard. She was employed as a secretary at North Davidson Junior High School until she became a full-time caregiver to her eldest son. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Numa Leonard, her husband Bob Essick, her daughter, Cecelia Sue Essick and and two sons, Pete and Mike Essick.   Surviving are her mother, Frances Wagner Leonard, son Joe Essick and wife Dawn, of Lexington, grandson, Hence Essick and wife Candace of Graham, granddaughter, Emily McMahan and husband Daniel of Lexington, two great-granddaughters, Dylan and Macy Essick, and three sisters, Crissy Pope, Ann Brown and Debbie Leonard. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Center United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 179, Welcome, NC 27374.   Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
