Carolyn Fortner Koonts

Carolyn Naydene Fortner Koonts, 82, of Lexington, passed away Friday, May 3, 2024.

Carolyn was born on December 16, 1941, in Rowan County, to the late Franklin Alexander Fortner and Maggie Rebecka Goforth Fortner. She worked for Leggett and Platt for 37 years and is remembered for being one of the hardest workers around, still known to get up at 6:00 AM every morning to work until age 72.

Carolyn loved to crochet, read, and most of all spend time at home and with her family. Devoting her time and love as a wife and mother was her truest joy.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry Ferrell Koonts.

Left to cherish her wonderful memory is her sister, Margaret Ward; brother, Luke Fortner; her children, grandchildren, and many extended family and friends. And a special callout to Chloe.

She will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing and loving her.
