Carroll Smith

Carroll Smith, 86, of, Lexington North Carolina, died Thursday May 31, 2018 at Magnolia Gardens in Spencer.   A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday June3, 2018 at Jersey Baptist Church with Rev. Dolan Taylor Humphries officiating services. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.   The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Saturday at Davidson  Funeral Home.   Mr. Smith was born September 18, 1931 in Davidson County to Anderson Ray Smith and Rosa Frances Snider Smith. He was retired co- owner/ operator of Smith Brothers Supermarket with his brother Paul J. Smith,.Mr. Smith was a United States Army veteran and served in the Korean War, and was Life Member of the VFW Post 3074, American Legion Post 8, and the Amvets Post 13 and North Carolina Commander of VFW from 1987 to 1988. He was a member of Jersey Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Secretary, Trustee Chairman and office assistant. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Paul Smith, and Hoyle Smith.   Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Mildred Smith of the home; two daughters, Pam Shoaf and husband Sammy and Luann Everhardt and husband Randy both of Lexington; 3 grandchildren, Mandy Bogdanoff and husband Aron, Anderson Everhardt andwife Ashley, and Anna Miller; and 8 great-grandchildren, Hailey, Maddie, Jaxon, Lily, Bryson, Chesney, Collin and Lucas.   Memorials may be made to  Hospice of Rowan County 720 Grove Street, Salisbury North Carolina, 28144, or Jersey Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2920 Jersey Church Road, Lexington NC 27292.
