Carthena Merritt Holt

Carthena Ann Merritt Holt, 86, of Warf Road, in Lexington, passed away Thursday November 5, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Lexington Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday at Center United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy L. Myers conducting services.

Mrs. Holt was born August 15, 1934 in Davidson County to James Arvel Merritt and Alta Elizabeth Leonard Merritt. She retired from Duracell after over 40 years of service. Carthena was a very giving individual and always wanted to help any one who was in need.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence Edwin “Ed” Holt, a son Scott Holt, and a sister Betty Myers.

Surviving are three daughters, Tara Wood (Dan), Starr Hill (Mike) and Sandra Winchel ( Randy) all of Lexington; one sister, Ponzi Zimmerman (Larry) of Arcadia; 5 grandchildren, April Wood Berg (Jeff) of Lexington, Allen Hill of Lexington, Autumn Hill of Lexington, Anderson Norris of Raleigh, and Aaron Norris, of Lexington; and 5 great-grandchildren, Alexis Berg, Alexander Berg,  Anthony Berg, Blake Hill and Asa Roller, all of Lexington.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, Carthena’s memory be honored by making memorials  to donor’s choice.
