Catherine Starling Long Ladd, 75 of the Midway Community passed away early Wednesday morning, September 18, 2013 at her home.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 21st at Reedy Creek Church of Christ Cemetery with James Percivel officiating. A visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:30 PM at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel prior to the service and other times at the home and her daughter’s home.
Starling was born in Forsyth County, on August 24, 1938 to Elmer Taft and Catherine Mendenhall Long but lived in Davidson County her entire life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul who died in 2010 and brothers Charles Robert (Bob) Long, and Lawrence J. Long. She retired from Lexington Furniture Co., loved gardening and farming with Paul. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, loved to cook and she never met a stranger.
Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Ladd Parnell (Zane) of Midway; three grandchildren, Christopher Parnell (Miranda), Crystal Parnell Bullard (Kenneth, Jr.), Amy Parnell; great grandchildren, Lauren Kirk, Austin Kirk, Noah Kirk, Jynsen Parnell and Paisli Parnell; a sister Wanda Long Anderson of Winston-Salem.
