Cecil Leonard, 86, of Yadkin College Road, Lexington, died Saturday at Forsyth Medical Center. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at St. Lukes Lutheran Church, where he was a member by Rev. David Nelson and Rev. Dan Walser. Burial will follow at Sandy Creek Cemetery. He was born November 10, 1919 in Davidson County to Robert Edward Leonard and Maude Essie Shoaf Leonard. He was the retired owner of Tony’s Oil Company. He served in the US Navy Reserve and was stationed at Pearl Harbor Naval Yard. He was a life member of VFW Post 3074 and a member of Lexington Memorial Masonic Lodge 473. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward B. Leonard, and Paul D. Leonard, and a sister, Thelma Peck. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Wilma Jane Walser Leonard of the home; his son, Tony Leonard and wife, Lynn of Lexington; a grandson, Eric Brent Leonard and his companion, Jennifer Leonard; two step-grandsons: Nicholas Jessee and Brian Jessee and wife, Amy; a great grandchild, Colby Leonard; a brother, Venice A. Leonard and wife, Thelma Louise of Lexington; and a sister, Gilda Greer and husband, Bruce of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday at DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to St. Lukes Lutheran Church, 4299 S. NC Highway 150, Lexington NC 27295 or Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College Street, Oxford NC 27565.
