Cecile Kirby Patterson

Cecile Kirby Patterson, age 88 of The Elms at Tanglewood, formerly of Dalton GA passed away Saturday February 18, 2012 at Hinkle Hospice House, Lexington. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2012, at First United Methodist Church of Dalton, Ga., with Dr. Robert Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow at United Memorial Gardens, Dalton, GA. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 pm prior to the service in the church chapel. Cecile was born in Greenville, SC March 24, 1923 to Franklin Grady McAlister and Leitha Theo McAlister. She was a retired employee of Wachovia Bank and a member of First United Methodist Church of Dalton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, William Marion Kirby, Jr. and Floyd Hill Patterson; a son, William Kirby, III; sisters, Gradie Lee Cole, Inez Wood and Ethelyn Gossett. Surviving are two daughters, Melinda Zarate of Lexington, NC, Kaye Wiley and husband, Robert, of Leesville, SC. She was blessed by seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; several beloved step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Alva McAlister of Clinton, SC.
