Charles Douglas Essick

Charles Essick, 87, of Davidson County, passed away Wednesday evening, September 17, 2025, at his home, with his loving family by his side.

There are no formal services at this time.

Charles was born on September 1, 1938, in Davidson County, to the late John Essick and Daisy Fritts Essick.

He was always happiest spending time in the outdoors fishing, duck hunting, and enjoying the beauty of nature. The joy he found in living a simplistic life was always a constant for those who knew him, and the peace that resonated within his heart extended to his family, friends, and even strangers. His easy-going personality and genuine character drew people to him naturally and enabled him to touch the heart of everyone he met along his journey.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his two brothers, J. R. and Norman Essick.

Left to carry on his legacy are his wife of 38 years, Wanda, of the home; daughters, Libby Beck, of Lexington, Charlotte West (Kenny), of Lexington, Cindy Laverdiere, of Wilmington, and Amanda Pullum (Junior), of Lexington; sister, Isabel Frazier; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
