Please note : Due to the governor's orders amidst the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Celebration of Life service that was previously planned for Mr. Gill has been rescheduled, and will be held from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm, on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Freeman Street Baptist Church.
Charles Elmer Gill, age 88 passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Forsyth Medical Center. In keeping with Governor Cooper Covid 19 recomedations, a private graveside service was previously held at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Gill was born on May 10, 1931 in Forsyth County to Richard Gill, Sr. and Mary Hudson Gill. He was retired from The Industries for the Blind and was a member of Freeman Street Baptist Church. He was a veteran of The US Air Force. His parents, wife, Lillian Barringer Gill, son, William Charles Gill grandson, Billy O’Quinn and great granddaughter, Alyssa Clowers all preceded him in death. He was also Preceded by a brother, Marvel Richard Gill, Jr. and Sisters, Margaret Sprinkle, Eunice Robertson and Hazel Williams.
Surviving are his daughters, Colleen Sprinkle and Kay Mumaw both of Winston Salem and Mary Elizabeth Richards of Florida. There are 15 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren, as well as many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
