Charles Kirby Hanes

Charles Kirby Hanes, age 67 of Hwy 150 in Lexington passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at his home.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Friendship United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Pryor officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.  Mr. Hanes was born on July 9, 1949 in Davidson County to Melvin Vestal Hanes and Annie Ethel Miller Hanes. He was a retired from the Department of Transportation, a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, and a Veteran of the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gloria Jane Marshall Hanes.  Surviving are his son, Nick Hanes; two brothers, Richard Vernon Hanes (Patsy), and Phillip David Hanes; two sisters, Diane Brittin (Harry), and Debbie Bumgarner (Ricky); two sister in laws, Terri Marshall and Martha “Dusty” Parnell; a friend, Susan Bowen; and his special K9 companion, Zeke.    Memorials may be directed to Friendship United Methodist Church at 2840 Friendship Church Road Lexington, NC 27295.
