Charles Louis Helmstetler II, 76, of Arvil Hunt Road, died Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at his home. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014, at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2014, and other times at the home. Mr. Helmstetler was born December 14, 1937, in Davidson County, to Charles Louis Helmstetler I and Mae Leonard Helmstetler. He proudly served in the U.S. Marines earning the rank of Lance Corporal. Later he was employed at Proctor and Schwartz where he was a tool and dye maker. He enjoyed building things with his hands. His parents preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Betty Charlene Helmstetler of the home; son, Charles Louis “Ham” Helmstetler III and wife, Ann Hunter Ketchum, of Lexington; daughter, Ruthann Helmstetler Essick and husband, Brad, of Lexington; three grandchildren, Matthew Jackson Tarleton, Ryan Helmstetler and Caitlin Baussan.
