Charles William Holmes

Charles William Holmes, 92, of Lexington went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at the home of his daughter.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, April 29, 2021 in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington with the Rev. James Messer officiating and will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/Davidson.funeralhome. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington. All Covid-19 related guidelines including social distancing and the use of face coverings will be followed.

Mr. Holmes was born on December 27, 1928 in Smith County, VA to Felix Holmes and Blanche Blevins Holmes. He was a retired machine operator, having worked for Dacotah Mills for twenty two years and was a member of Pilgrim Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Holmes was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather whose memory will be cherished forevermore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters; and three grandchildren, Ernie, Danny, and Taylor.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Evelyn Harris Holmes; four sons, Charlie Holmes (Becky) of Greensboro, Terry Holmes of Stanton, VA, Stevie Holmes of Greensboro, and Timmy Holmes (Karen) of Greensboro; a daughter, Sharon Archer (Larry) of Oak Ridge; two brothers, Roy Lee Holmes of Baltimore, MD and Garland Holmes of Saltville, VA; a sister, Fannie King of Lexington, NC; five grandchildren, Tammy, Tonya, Brian, Michael, and Carey; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
