Charles Junior Mason

“Daddy was an Ole Time Preacher Man”, Charles Junior Mason, age 82 of Thomasville peacefully went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Saturday August 16, 2014. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with Rev. J.R. Huggart and Rev. Hoyt Mason officiating and burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Monday night and at other times at the home. Charles was born April 24, 1932 in Blairsville, Georgia to George and Ola Mason. He spent most of his life in the Thomasville and High Point area. He was an ole time preacher man who loved God and he loved to tell people about God, everywhere he went. He pastored Bride of Christ Baptist Church that he started in 2001 until his sickness. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Helen Horaday and Olene Guffey and a brother who died at birth. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Barbara Ann Wood Mason of the home; daughters, Debra Johnson (Charlie) of Archdale, Rhonda Payne (Danny Jones) Thomasville, Robin Smith (Ron) of Lexington, Michelle Floyd (Gerry) of Lexington and Penny Hopkins (Johnny) of Archdale; son, Steve Mason (Mickie Medlin) of Trinity; 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren; Sisters, Gertrude Cecil of High Point, Della Mae Grant of Thomasville, Barbara Kennedy of Chattanooga, TN, Bessie Mae Bryant, Ann Hooper and Mary Lou Day all of Topton, NC and Naomi Mason of Fayetteville, NC; brothers, Eugene Mason of Topton, NC, Jack Mason of High Point and Cecil Mason of Lexington. The family would like to thank all the wonderful nurses at Hinkle Hospice House who took such great care of our dad, and especially we would like to thank his home caregiver, Tammy Koger for taking such good care of our dad.
