Charles J. McGlamery 84 of Concrete Works Road, passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 27, 2008 at the Brian Center Nursing Care. A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 31, 2008 at 3:00 PM at Canaan United Methodist Church where he was a member with the Rev. Chuck Ireson officiating.
Mr. McGlamery was born June 18, 1924 in Catawba County to Joseph and Louise Khal McGlamery. He was a sales clerk with Carswell Dist. He was a member of the Midway Volunteer Fire Department and of the United Methodist Men. Mr. McGlamery was an MP in the Army and served in WWII. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Doris Mendenhall McGlamery.
He is survived by one son, Dudley McGlamery (Patty) of Winston-Salem, three daughters, Pat Clark (Darryl) of Winston-Salem, Cynthia Carswell (Gary) of Morganton, NC and Sandra McGlamery-Smith (Billy) of Belews Creek. One sister, Aliene Tysinger of Lexington. Six grandchildren, Adrienne McGlamery, Chris Carswell, Andrew Carswell, Johnnette Dale, Johnathan Clark and Samuel Smith and three great-grandchildren, Ethen Dale, Ryan Duncan and Noah Duncan.
