Charles Gray Nance

November 14, 1939 — August 2, 2014

Charles Gray Nance, devoted Daddy, Pa, brother, uncle and friend has reached out his arms to Christ and been welcomed into paradise. There he was reunited with his wife Barbara, son Steven, grandson, Christian, parents Grady and Annie Ruth as well as, a host of family and friends. A funeral service will be 4:00 PM Tuesday 08-05-2014 at First Baptist Church of Welcome where he was a member, conducted by Pastor Mark Blair. Burial with military graveside rites will follow in church cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel and other times at the home. Charles was born November 14, 1939 in Stokes County to Grady Elmer Nance Sr. and Annie Ruth Harrison Nance. He was retired from RJR and had worked for Reggie’s Flower Shoppe. He was a veteran of the US Army. Those who remain to cherish his memory are, his grateful daughter Susan, cherished grandbabies, Kody, Kasey, Kali Rae, Bobbie Jo (Chris) and Amanda; great-grandbabies, Tyler, C.J. and Fallon. Much treasured sisters and brothers, Barbara Karfit (John), Mary Stone (Barry), Clyde Nance (Judy), Betty Prince (Rick), Craig Nance (Trish), Pamela Nance (Frank), Elmer Nance (Melissa); brother-in-law and friend, John Boner (Rebecca); many nieces and nephews as well. Special friends who have shared so many moments of Charles’ life, Charlie and Linda Nifong, and their daughter Jana Eanes, who Charles loved as his own, Judy and Larry Yarbrough, their children Sharon, Carol Ann and Christina and Reggie Walser and all his special Friends that worked with him at Reggie’s. Charles was loved by many, just as he loved many. His devotion and Kindness were what defined him, as well as his work ethic and love of the Lord. Through his life there were struggles, and heartaches; however, he always ensured all was well, for those he loved. Daddy, Pa, brother, uncle and friend… Spread your wings and soar with the eagles, swim in oceans of paradise forever. We thank you, we miss you and we love you always. The family has requested memorial gifts to First Baptist Church of Welcome Benevolent Fund, PO Box 269 Welcome NC, 27374 or Hospice of Davidson County 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
