Charles William “Pete” Hatley Sr., of Ridge Road, passed away early Thursday morning, March 29, 2012, at his residence. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, April 2, 2012 at Pilgrim Reformed Church, where he was a member with Rev. Gary Mahathey officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park with military honors.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Sunday night and at other times at the home.
Pete was born in Davidson County August 1, 1927 to Adam Monroe Hatley and Naomi Clodfelter Hatley. He was a retired employee of Davison County Sanitation and earlier worked for Sam W. Smith Construction. He was a veteran of the US Army; and a lifetime member of VFW Post 10485 of Arcadia. He loved working in his yard and for many years installed handles in many shovels, rakes and hoes for friends and neighbors, who loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ernest and Calvin Hatley.
Surviving are; his wife Ruby Irene Curry Hatley of the home; daughter, Pam Hatley Everhart and husband Leroy of Winston Salem; son, Charles William Hatley, Jr. of Winston Salem; grandson, Adam Tyler Everhart of Winston Salem.
