Charles Len Presnell

December 6, 1936 — March 21, 2021

Len Presnell, 84, of Lexington, transitioned peacefully to his heavenly home on Sunday, March 21, 2021 with family by his side. A resident of Lexington since his early twenties, Mr. Presnell, was born on December 6, 1936 in Valle Crucis of Boone, North Carolina to the late Paul and Oakie (Heaton) Presnell.

Len will be remembered by his many accomplishments, talents, and kind-hearted spirit. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and was a professional musician for many years, known nationally as an outstanding mandolin player. Len retired from Talbert’s Jewelry as a watch-maker, but continued his passion for watch-making throughout his later years. He was a faithful and active member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, where he played the guitar in the church choir. His love for God was evident, as was his love for his wife, family, and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and mentor to many through his music and coaching.

Len is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Lena Mae (Lanier) Presnell, of the home; his son, Charles “June” Presnell, of Charlotte; daughter, Lisa Sizemore of Lexington ; son-in law, Tommy Hedrick; his sister, Pearl (Presell) Tester; his grandchildren, Dustin (Heather), Alena, and Tori; his 7 great-grandchild; and a host of extended family and friends.

Len is preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah (Presnell) Hedrick; grandson, T.J. Hedrick; brothers, Dayton, Cecil, Rhonda and J.C.; and sisters, Maybelle, Mary Ruth and Wanda.

The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful love and care from a special caretaker, Daphine Matthews; and Hospice of Davidson County.

A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Sunday, March 28 th at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and officiated by his grandson, Dustin Sizemore. The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292
