Charles "Rick" Richard Johnson Jr.

Charles Richard Johnson Jr, (Rick) passed away at his home in Thomasville on Sept 1, 2025.

Rick was a 1986 graduate of Central Davidson High School , attended Clemson University and received his undergraduate degree from UNC charlotte. Followed by a masters from Saint Louis University in Bio- Security. He also served 3 years in the United States Army. Charles later worked with Davidson County Sherriffs office, and he served 30 years with High Point Police Dept., where he retired as a Captain!

He enjoyed sports growing up and continued to enjoy golf through the years. He also had a love for food and enjoyed cooking. His most precious job was being a Poppy to Bella!

He is proceeded in death by his mother, Sandra Freeman Johnson.

Left to cherish his memory are his father Charles Richard Johnson Sr., his sister Beth Stewart (John), his children: Clay Walser (Felicia), Matt Catlin (Lydia), and Summer Canovai (Lance), his grandchildren: Bella Canovai, Koleson, Kaspen, and Jaxon Walser. and Krew Catlin, his niece Melia Tysinger (Lucas), his nephew Trevor Swicegood (Samantha), and his great-nieces and nephews: Emberly and Zoey Swicegood, Kaiden and Zayn Swicegood, and Wyatt and Declan Tysinger. He also is survived by his brothers in blue, and his cherished friend and former wife Glenda Varner.

The family will have a private celebration of life at a later date.
