Charles was born on July 7, 1932, in Richmond County, to the late Charlie Preston Rummage and Ida Wright Rummage. A talented and dedicated cabinet maker, Charles spent his entire career crafting exquisite furniture. Known for his extraordinary ability to create anything from wood, his skills extended beyond work to his personal hobbies, where he made custom frames, yard windmills, grandfather clock cases, and many other cherished works of art.
In addition to his craftsmanship, Charles enjoyed many passions in life. He loved playing golf, fishing, and watching westerns. One of his most treasured pastimes was sitting in his garden swing, savoring the beauty and serenity of the world around him.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and eleven brothers and sisters. He was joined by his wife of over 70 years, Estelle, moments after his passing. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Len Rummage of Virginia, and Cathy Martin (Randy) of Linwood; his granddaughters, Hannah Grubb (Gray) and Lindsay Kimbrell (Bradley); and his five great-granddaughters, Harper, Emma, Macy, Lily, and Charlotte.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Hinkle Hospice House for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hinkle Hospice House, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292, in memory of Charles and Estelle.
