Charles Blair Rush, 81, a resident of Lexington, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2022 at his home. He was born in Lexington on January 9, 1941 to the late Clarence Charles and Avergail Blair Rush. He retired from Davidson County EMS after many years of service. Charles was a veteran of the US Army, where he proudly served as an Air Support Medic during the Vietnam War. Charles was an active member of the Davidson County Honor Guard, a pilot, and was part of the Civil Air Patrol at the Davidson County Airport. After his retirement, Charles taught college courses for aspiring paramedics at Davidson County Community College. He also co-owned Curves Fitness for Women in Lexington, Thomasville, and Mt. Airy. Charles enjoyed traveling and collecting model race cars. He will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Amanda Blair Shell.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington with Preacher Clyde Akers officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Charles is survived by his special friend and companion of many years, Kathy Bowman, of the home; a grandson, Devin Sink; and many other friends and loved ones.
