Charles Wade Smith

Charles Wade Smith Sr., 66, of Lingle Farm Road, died Saturday, March 31, 2007, at Lexington Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reeds United Methodist Church by the Revs. Claude Garrett Jr. and Jane Auman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Smith was born Feb. 20, 1941, in Davidson County to Luther Smith and Rose Snider Smith. He retired from Stanley Furniture Co. and served as assistant pastor of Full Gospel Independent Church. A sister, Ernestine Bice, preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Kate Cole Smith of the home; a son, Charles Wade Smith Jr. of Lexington; four daughters, Katrinka Barnhart and her husband, Paul, of Walkertown, Marlene Burckhalter and her husband, Jim, of Thomasville, Tamra Wood and her husband, Curtis, of Advance, and Kathryn Swanson and her husband, Mike, of Minneapolis, Minn.; two brothers, Floyd Smith and his wife, Judy, of Thomasville, and Allen Smith and his wife, Barbara, of Lexington; a sister, Mary Hicks of Lexington; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.
