Charles Fisher Ward

Charles Fisher Ward Sr., 81, of E. Old Highway 64, died Friday, March 05, 2010, at Hinkle Hospice House after declining health of three years.   The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2010, at New Jerusalem United Church of Christ, where he was a lifelong member, with Pastor Butch Conrad and the Rev. Amelia Stinson Wesley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.   The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel and other times at the home.   Mr. Ward was born February 22, 1929, in Davidson County, to Grady Jennings Ward and Vaudie Jane Moore Ward. He was retired from Fisher Ward Dairy; former member of Silver Valley Civitan Club, which he was a charter member. He was also a member of North Carolina Holstein Association and National Holstein Association.  At his church he was a former consistory member and Sunday school teacher. He was preceded in death by his parents.   Surviving are his wife, Lucille Stinson Ward of the home; sons, Charles Ward Jr., Jonathan Ward, and James Ward, all of Lexington; brothers, Terry J. Ward Sr. and wife, Nell, and Benny K. Ward Sr. and wife, Vivian, all of Lexington; sisters, Jane Decker, Doris Everhart, Peggy May and husband, Bruce, all of Lexington, and Polly Nance and husband, Wayne, of Meridian, Id.; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.   Memorials may be made to New Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Cemetery Fund, 4104 Jerusalem Road, Lexington, NC 27292.   Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
