Charles Michael Widdicombe, age 63, of Highway 8, Lexington, passed away on Friday, August 28th, 2015 at Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem after an extended illness.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Mt. View Baptist Church. The burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, prior to the service.
Mr. Widdicombe was born on May 16th, 1952 in Martinsburg, West Virginia to Charles Walter Widdicombe and Rosalie Kretzer Widdicombe. Mr. Widdicombe was a 1970 graduate of Hudson High School in Caldwell County, NC. He then went on to Caldwell County Community College & Technical Institute from where he graduated in 1972 and transferred to Appalachian State University from where he graduated in 1975. Despite all odds in 2008 Mr. Widdicombe graduated once again from Davidson County Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Computer Programming. Mr. Widdicombe was currently employed with Hubbell Industrial Controls in Archdale, NC and was a former employee of Lexington Furniture Industries from 1988 until 2006. Mr. Widdicombe also worked as a raw milk receiver at Coble Dairy from 1983 until 1988, where he and his wife met some 26 years ago. Mr. Widdicombe was a very hard working man, as well as a very supportive and loving husband. He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as a brother in law, Bill Nitterright.
Surviving are his loving wife, Lisa Lemly Widdicombe of the home; a brother, Terry L. Widdicombe of Michigan; a sister, Sue Nitterright of Baltimore, MD; two brother in laws, Paul Joel Lemly and wife Phyllis, and Dennis Lemly Ph.D. and wife Cathy; as well as three nephews, and five nieces.
