Charles Bruce Yokley

Charles Bruce Yokley, 83 of Garner, NC, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 15, 2021 at UNC Johnston Health Center in Clayton, NC.

Charles was born in Washington, NC on November 9, 1937 to Raymond Bruce Yokley and Magdalene Stokes Yokley.  While he was a recent resident of Garner, NC, he spent many years in Davidson County and in Greensboro, NC.  He retired from the Internal Revenue Service in Greensboro in 1998.  A consummate “funny man”, Dad could often be found laughing at his own jokes.  Family members & co-workers were fair game for teasing and his chuckle will be sorely missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother Raymond Ross Yokley.  Mr. Yokley was a graduate of Denton High School and attended UNC – Chapel Hill and Pfeiffer College.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Kathryn Starnes Yokley of Garner, NC;  his sons, David Bruce Yokley (Nancy) of Garner, NC and John Charles Yokley (Shari) of Fletcher, NC; grandsons, Jeffrey Ross Yokley of Raleigh, NC and Johnathan Bruce Yokley of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Barbara Ann Rogers of Richfield, NC;  his nieces Leigh Rogers Porcher (Philip) of Charlotte, NC, Elizabeth Yokley Tuck (Jon) of Clayton, GA and Jennifer Yokley Hartman (Brian) of Welcome, NC.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Welcome, NC at 1p.m.

In lieu of flowers and per Charles’s wish, the family requests donations be made in memory of Charles to Bethesda United Methodist Church, 2922 Bethesda Rd, Lexington, NC 27295, or to a charity of your choice.
