Charlie Franklin Barnes, 76, of Maitland Court, died Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
A memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday, at Churchland Baptist Church, with the Revs. Tom Shelton and Ray Howell IV officiating.
Mr. Barnes was born June 1, 1933, in Davidson County, to Jake Elmo Barnes and Gena Snider Barnes. He was retired from Stroh’s Brewery a member of Friedberg Moravian Church and Churchland Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Jo Swicegood Barnes of the home; sons, Glenn Franklin Barnes and wife, Julia, of Kernersville, and Mitchell C. Barnes and wife, Meredith, of Louisville, Ky.; and grandchildren, Alex Barnes, Mitchell and Marshall Barnes.
The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall and other times at the home.
