Charlie "Pappy" Leonard

Charlie Gilmer "Pappy" Leonard, 85, of Arrington Drive, died Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Lexington Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Arrington Heights Freewill Baptist Church, where he was a member, by the Rev. Doug McGee. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Leonard was born June 25, 1923, in Davidson County to Charles Pinkston Leonard and Minnie Saines Leonard. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from Lexington Furniture Finishing department after 45 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Leona Leonard Leonard of the home; sons Jerry Wayne Leonard of Welcome, Buddy Leonard and Jimmy Leonard, both of Lexington; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home on Arrington Drive.
