Charlie Vance Matthews

Charlie Vance Matthews, 86, of Winston Salem died Saturday, August 9, 2014 at his home with family by his side. A funeral service will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Grace Baptist Church 3305 Peters Creek Parkway, Winston Salem, NC with Pastor Ed Sears officiating. The family will receive friends 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel. He was born May 25, 1928 in Danville, VA to Charles Vance and Nora Matthews. He served during WWII in the Marine Corp. Mr. Matthews was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Winston Salem. Surviving are his wife Natalie C. Hine Matthews of the home, three sons; Van Matthews of Winston Salem, Dwight Matthews of Lexington and Tony Matthews of Winston Salem, three daughters; Vicki Hedrick of Lexington, Shelia Embrey of Bluemont, VA, Teresa Weger of Riverview, FL, Nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
