Charlie Clay Smith

Charlie Clay Smith, 71, of Davidson County, passed away Monday, October 16, 2023, at Brookstone Retirement Home.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 1:00 PM, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with Pastor Susan Burgess officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 – 1:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will follow immediately after the service, at Holly Hill Memorial Park.

Charlie was born on January 12, 1952, in Stanley County, to the late Raymond Smith and Dovie Hill. He worked in masonry for many years at Cunningham Brick Company. Charlie enjoyed watching westerns and sports, but his favorite was watching football.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Willard Brodie and Larry Brodie.

Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Pastor Brenda Junious and husband Larry, of Thomasville, Dorothy Bates and husband Marvin, of Thomasville, and Carolyn Jackson, of Watervliet NY; close family friend, Gail Whitehead; sister-in-law, Ann Brodie and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
