Charlie was born January 14, 1942 in Philadelphia County, Philadelphia, to Charles Joseph Ward Sr. and Marth Elizabeth Wagner Ward. After graduating from North Davidson High School and then Greensboro College, he served in the United States Air Force. Charlie then served others through his love of teaching and found that to be satisfying no matter if it was in the school classroom, teaching Sunday School or teaching a student to play the drums. It was also a much loved passion he had, and did so for many years. He was also very fond of riding his motorcycle. Charlie always had a smiling face and would carry on a conversation with anyone. Charlie’s smile and generous character will be missed by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Mary Jean Joslin; and a live long friend Leon Wagner.
Surviving is his wife, Shelia Dawn Leonard Ward, of the home; his daughter, Monika Priddy (Patrick) of Pilot Mountain, a bonus daughter, Rhonda Coller; a brother, Tim Ward (Rebecca) of Winston Salem; two sisters, Diane Ward Wessell of Clemmons, Sarah Elizabeth Roland of Rolesville; 3 grandchildren, Journey, Jaxon and Noah; and a brother-in-law, Reggie Leonard.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their loving care to Charlie.
