Charles “Charlie” Ward Jr.. 83, of Shamrock Drive in Lexington, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Friday November 7, 2025 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, in Winston Salem, NC.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 Wednesday November 12, 2025 at Pilgrim Reformed Church, where he was a member, with Rev. Richard Moore officiating services. Burial with Military Graveside Rites,will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.

Charlie was born January 14, 1942 in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, to Charles Joseph Ward Sr. and Marth Elizabeth Wagner Ward. After graduating from North Davidson High School and then Greensboro College, he served in the United States Air Force. After his military service, he received a BA degree from Greensboro College. Charlie continued his service to others through his love of teaching and found that to be satisfying no matter if it was in the school classroom, teaching Sunday School or teaching a student to play the drums. It was also a much-loved passion he had and did so for many years. He was also very fond of riding his motorcycle. Charlie always had a smiling face and would carry on a conversation with anyone. He also loved to spend time with his loyal canine companion Tonto. Charlie’s smile and generous character will be missed by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Mary Jean Ward Joslin; and a lifelong friend Leo Wagner.

Surviving is his wife, Shelia Dawn Leonard Ward, of the home; his daughter, Monika Priddy (Patrick) of Pilot Mountain, a bonus daughter, Rhonda Culler; a brother, Tim Ward (Rebecca) of Winston Salem; two sisters, Diane Ward Wessell of Clemmons, Betsy Ward Roland of Rolesville; 3 grandchildren, Journey, Jaxon and Noah; and a brother-in-law, Reggie Leonard.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their loving care to Charlie.
