Charlotte Shoaf Lyle

Charlotte Shoaf Lyle, 88, of Lexington, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at Thomasville Medical Center. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, where she was a member, by Dr. Lee Zehmer. Interment will be private. Mrs. Lyle was born Jan. 19, 1919, in Davidson County to Ira Guy and Lola Ellis Shoaf. She was a graduate of the Women's College of the University of North Carolina and was a homemaker. She was an elder of her church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Sidney Robinson Lyle, her parents, and a brother, Ellis Stephen Shoaf. Surviving are a son, Sidney Robinson Lyle Jr. and daughter-in-law Anne Chichester Lyle of Charlotte; four granddaughters, Mary Nisbet Hardwick Lyle, Charlotte Robinson Ellis Lyle, Catharine Bolling Lyle and Jane Randolph Lyle, all of Charlotte; a brother, Wayne Hoyt Shoaf of Lexington; six nephews and two nieces. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately after the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 586, Lexington, NC 27293. Arrangements are by Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.
