Cheri Morris

Cheri Lynn Toombs Morris, 72, of Lexington, NC passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center – Winston Salem, NC.

A celebration of her life will be held 2:00 on Saturday, March 29th, 2025, at First Baptist Church Lexington with Rev. Dr.  Ray Howell, III officiating. Family will receive friends 1:00 -2:00 prior to the service.

Cheri was born February 18, 1953, in Richmond County, GA to Kenneth Eldridge Toombs and Ada Hornsby Toombs who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by sister-in-law, Kay Morris Billings and brother-in-law, Fred Shealy, Jr.

Cheri grew up in Baton Rouge and LaFayette LA.  She met Eugene Taylor Morris, Jr. at USC-Columbia in 1974 and they were married in 1975. Cheri was an Instructor at Davidson County Community College in Lexington, NC. She retired in 2018.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Olivia Blair Morris Erling (Frank) and Allison Taylor Morris Curtis (Simon); sisters, Susan Shealy, Teresa Heilman (Bill); sister-in-law, Barbara Perrell (Ed); 8 grandchildren, Ayden Curtis, Ashton Erling, Ridge Curtis, Madelyn Erling, Finn Curtis, Allison Curtis, Camden Erling and Vivienne Erling. She also had a host of nieces and nephews.
