Chester Lawrence Houchins

Chester Lawrence Houchins, age 82 of Old Mill Farm Rd., Lexington died Monday, July 25, 2011 in Forsyth Medical Center after several years of declining health. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Good Hope United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home. Mr. Houchins was born September 23, 1928 in Dawson, WV to Isaac Newton Houchins and Nanny Bryant Houchins. He was self employed as a Carpet Installer and was a member of Good Hope United Methodist Church, where he served in many positions and a member of the Mens Bible Sunday School Class. Surviving are his wife, of 56 years, Callie Sue James Houchins of the home; brothers, Isaac Houchins, Charles Ward, both of WV, and Arthur Houchins of Lexington; sisters, Glenna Queens and husband, Charles, and Nancy Craft both of Lexington; several nieces and nephews and a very special niece, Karen Byerly of Thomasville.
