Christine Welborn Cooper

Christine Welborn Cooper 71 passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at her daughters home. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Oak Forest United Methodist Church with Kent Shumate and Rev. Darren Alexander officiating. A visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM prior to her service at the church. Christine was born on March 31, 1944 in Wilkes County, NC to the late Ed and Nell Church Welborn. She was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Baptist Church of Purlear, NC. She was also preceded in death by her husband Robert Bruce Cooper; son, Robert Lee Cooper; daughter, “Becky” Rebecca Taverniti and a brother, Glenn Welborn. Surviving are daughters Sandra Cooper Hester (Marshall “Alan”) of Cordova, TN, Annette McGee (Michael) of Midway; brothers, Ray Welborn (Brenda) of Wilkes County, Bryant Welborn (Joanne) of Wilkes County; grandchildren, Megan Simpson (Jermey), Charlie Taverniti, Morgan Hester, Zachary McGee, Ana Taverniti; great-grandchildren, Braden Simpson and Eos Luna Taverniti, Memorials may be made to St. Judes Children Research Hospital, P.
