Christopher Rhodes

Christopher Mark Rhodes, 68, of Lexington passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 11 o'clock on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Lexington with the Rev. Dr. Ray Howell, III officiating. A private committal service will be held at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Mr. Rhodes was born in Stanly County, NC on July 25, 1954, to Richard Ivan Rhodes and Martha Lee Barnes Rhodes. He was previously a popular and respected English teacher at Lexington Senior High where he imparted a love of literature to his many students. He later served as executive director and retired from the Catawba Valley Association of Realtors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Clay Rhodes.

Mr. Rhodes was a proud graduate of Appalachian State University and an active supporter of the YOSEF Club. He received his master’s degree in English from UNC-G. Always a lover of music, he played guitar and sang, and was a devoted follower of Bob Dylan.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving children: Elizabeth Rhodes, and Mark Rhodes; cousins Gary Carter, Robin Carter Kanuck, Allen Gearhart, and Sandy Gearhart Soler; his sister-in-law, Ann Rhodes; niece, Kristen Rhodes; and his nephew, Clay Rhodes. He will also be remembered by his dear friends, Jackie Byrd, Carol and Danny Leonard, and Dan Davis.

Memorials may be directed to the College of Arts and Sciences at Appalachian State University or the American Heart Association.
