Christos Ioannis Papaioannou

Christos Ioannis Papaioannou, 82, of Hadley Drive, passed away, Sunday, April 2, 2017, at Hinkle Hospice House, with his family by his side. Having being a fighter all his life he managed under extreme circumstances to become a political scientist and attorney in his homeland, Greece. In his new home, USA he was a restaurant entrepreneur and owner of Christo’s in Lexington, since 1983. He was a humanitarian, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He led a life of dignity and integrity and he will be greatly missed.  Surviving are his loving wife, Maria Iatrou Papaioannou of the home; son, Yiannis Papaioannou and wife Lamprini of Lexington; daughter, Alexia Abatezis and husband George of Lexington; four grandchildren, Christiana Abatzis, Melina Abatzis, Christos Papaioannou, and Stefanos Papaioannou; brother, Padelis Papaioannou and wife Anastasia of Massachusetts; and sister, Eugenia Kalabaka and husband Don of Forest City.  Per his wishes there will be no service. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Stoner Thomas, 215 County School Road, Lexington, NC 27292; Hinkle Hospice House, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292; or any of your favorite charity.
