Cynthia (Cindy) Webb, 68, of Lexington, NC, passed away peacefully on a “starry night” Friday, August 16, 2024, with her family and caretakers by her side.
Cindy was not only a devoted mother and grandmother, affectionately known as “Meme,” but also a beloved sister, daughter, and friend to all who knew her. The oldest of four, she was born on July 23, 1956, in San Antonio, TX to James Harlan Stepp Sr. and Blanche Inez Fischer.
She moved to Kermit, WV with her family in her teens. She enjoyed recalling work at her grandfather’s general store, “The Fountain,” and playing as a forward on her high school basketball team there. Cindy attended Marshall University and graduated with a degree in art education. She eventually moved to Lexington, NC where she raised twin boys and was proud to support their love of music and careers in medicine.
Cindy was a dedicated elementary art educator for 36 years and after retiring, continued the trend by opening an art studio with one of her closest friends. She always enjoyed movement and color in artwork, and impacted thousands of students during her teaching career. In her spare time, she enjoyed social events and traveling with family and friends and loved to dance.
She is survived by her children, Zachary Webb and Jeremy Webb; her daughter-in-law, Stacey Webb; her cherished grandchildren, Marshall and Julia Webb; and her siblings, Jim Stepp and Wendy Stepp and their children.
A celebration of Cindy’s life will be held at Davidson Funeral Home, 858 Hickory Tree Road, Winston-Salem, NC on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 4 p.m. For those attending, she requested wearing colorful attire in honor of her vibrant spirit. We encourage attendees to bring any words of remembrance they are willing to share.
While Cindy deeply appreciated flowers, she expressed a preference for donations to be made in her memory to a local ALS support group or to the ALS Association at https://donate.als.org.
