Clarence “Pop” Cody, age 80 of Troy McElrath Road, Lexington passed away Thursday night (October 29, 2009) at Hinkle Hospice House. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm
Monday (Nov. 2, 2009) at Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum, with Rev. Clyde Akers officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum.
Clarence was born in Davidson County, September 24, 1929 to James Franklin Cody and Annie Belle Leonard Cody. He was a member of Freedom Baptist Church and worked in area Flea Markets. He retired from the US Military having served in the US Army, while in the army he served in the Korean War and two tours in Vietnam. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Lori Ann Earwood; three sisters, Jessie Farabee, Ruby McElrath and Lillie Tilley.
Surviving are: wife, Geneva Shumaker Cody of the home; two daughters, Shelia Perrell and husband Donnie of Welcome and Debra Lucas of Lexington; four grandchildren, Donnie Williams, Dana Henson, Candi Perrell and Dustin Earwood; six great-grandchildren, Danielle, Donnie, Jr., Dillon, Danny, Jr., Dakota and Danika and one great-great grandchild,
Dalana; two brothers, Jack Cody and wife Wendy of Southmont and Clayton Cody and wife
Vada of Longlane, MO.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Mausoleum Chapel.
