Clarence Julian Craver, 84, of West Center Street Ext., died Sunday, December 14, 2008, at his home after a period of declining health.
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Paul’s Chapel United Church of Christ, where he was a member, by the Reverend Dr. David Ambroso and Reverend Jimmy Norred. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with graveside military rites by VFW Post 3074.
Mr. Craver was born January 3, 1924, in Davidson County, to Arthur Julian Craver and Addie Mae Hill Craver. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of VFW Post 3074. He was a retired master carpenter at G.W. Smith Lumber Company.
Surviving are his wife, Minnie Weaver Craver of the home; sons, Steve Julian Craver and wife, Marcia, of Lexington, and Keith L. Craver of Southmont; grandchildren, Julie C. Johnson and husband, Skipper and Ryan L. Craver; great-grandchildren, Aiden Blake Johnson and Elijah Julian Johnson; a brother, William Odell Craver of Thomasville; and a sister, Lena Mae Hedrick of Lexington.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
