Clarence Johnson III, 75, of Country Club Drive, Lexington, died Friday April 17, 2015 at the Hinkle House in Lexington. A funeral service will be held 11:00am Friday at Davidson Funeral Home with Rev. Brook Shanks officiating services. Burial will follow with Military Graveside Rites at 1:00 pm at the National Cemetery in Salisbury North Carolina. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 am Friday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel. Mr. Johnson was born April 4, 1940 in the District of Columbia Washington DC to Clarence Nathaniel Johnson and Annie Belle Everett Johnson, he was a member of Church of Christ in Lexington North Carolina and a past member of the Mason’s having serve with the Acacia 25 Post and earned his 32nd degree. In 1960 he joined the US. Army serving his country honorably for 25 years, serving two tours in Vietnam. While serving in the U.S. Army, his bravery earned him the following: National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal W/V Device, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon w/Numeral 1, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal (6th Award). He was preceded in death by his parents. He was survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Irene Brown Johnson of the home; one daughter, Judith Ann Johnson of College Park Maryland,; one brother, Ronnie Johnson and wife Alice of High Point North Carolina; one grandson, Carterlee White; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will also cherish the many memories of his life.
