Clarence "Skinny" Charles Corn

June 27, 1919 — July 28, 2011

Clarence Charles “Skinny” Corn, 92, of Hedrick Drive, died Thursday, July 28, 2011, at Pine Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center following several years of declining health. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2011, at First Baptist Church, where he was a lifelong member, with the Rev. Dr. Ray N. Howell 3rd and the Rev. Tommy Wilson officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church parlor. Mr. Corn was born June 27, 1919, in Monaghan Mill, SC, to James Alexander Corn and Ophelia Irene Wright Corn. He was a retired owner and operator of City Barber Shop. Mr. Corn served in the US Army; served on the City of Lexington planning and zoning board in the early 1960s. At his church Mr. Corn served as a Deacon, chairman of the deacon board, Sunday school teacher, member of the church choir and a member of the senior adult choir. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Norman Baxter Corn and George Henry Corn. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Sink Corn of Piedmont Crossing; son, Milton Vaughn “Micky” Corn and wife, Mary Sue, of Asheville, and Charles Norman “Charlie” Corn and wife, Sue, of Lexington; grandchildren, Tracy Ward and husband, Eric, Emily Powell and husband, Stephen, Shiloh Moore, and Chaz Corn; great-grandchildren, Abby and Elaina Ward, Hunter Moore and Zoe Powell; and sister, Ann Corn of Lexington. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 436, Lexington, NC 27293; or a charity of the donor’s choice.
