Claude "Bill" Hedrick

Claude "Bill" Hedrick, 79, of Arnold Road, died Sunday, July 16, 2006, at Lexington Memorial Hospital. A graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Hill Memorial Park by the Rev. Joe Solomon. Burial will follow with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3074. Mr. Hedrick was born Feb. 27, 1927, in Davidson County to Earl Hedrick Sr. and Mary Whitaker Hedrick. A retired partner with Hedrick Brothers Construction/Built-Rite Construction, he was a life member of VFW Post 3074, Amvets Post 13 and DAV Chapter 39, charter member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the Elks Lodge, and organizer of Welcome Amvets Post 760. He served in the Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Mae Ridenhour Hedrick, on Nov. 2, 1999; a son, James Eugene Hedrick Jr., on Feb. 18, 1977; a daughter, Judy Ann Hedrick Kerley, on Jan. 2, 1998; seven brothers, Raymond Bryce Hedrick, Clarence Hedrick, Earl Hedrick Jr., Calvin Hedrick, Eugene Hedrick, Richard Hedrick and Tommy Hedrick; and four sisters, Virginia Briggs, Frances Lanning, Helen Koonts and Elizabeth Hedrick. Surviving are four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memorials may be directed to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 410, Lexington, NC 27293, or to Hospice of Davidson County, P.O. Box 1941, Lexington, NC 27293.
