Claude Alexander Graves, 90, of Lexington, passed away July 4, 2024, at Davidson Health and Rehab in Lexington.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at New Hope Presbyterian Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Mason Todd officiating. The family will receive friends following the services in the church.
Claude was born May 5, 1934, in Davidson County, to Albert Alexander Graves and Mary Biesecker Graves. Claude was a devoted member of the church and the church choir for many years, having sung with Lexington Men of Songs, Past President of Southmont Booster Club. Retired from driving a truck with Billings Trucking. His first job driving a truck was with Fritts Packing. He was a veteran of the US Navy having served in Korea. His passion was his faith, church, family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Claude was a loving father, brother, and grandfather, who will be missed by all. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Graves, AD Grave, Irving Graves, sisters, Louise Stewart, Wilma Church, Ann O’Shea.
Left to cherish his memories are his sons, Carey Graves and wife, Kimberly Dawn of Lexington; Mark Graves and wife Sharon of Salisbury; grandchildren, Jasmine Howell, Maria Koliantz, Matthew Graves, Courtney Graves, Kolden Graves, great grandchildren, Zachariah, Mikaiah, Orlando. Also surviving are his brother, Charles Graves and wife LeAnne of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Music Fund c/o New Hope Presbyterian Church, 200 Cotton Grove Rd., Lexington, NC 27292.
