Claudia Louise Johnston Askins

Claudia Louise Johnston Askins, 62, of Manor Ridge Way, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2006, at her home. The funeral will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Coggins Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. David Shaffer. A private burial will be in Lexington City Cemetery. Mrs. Askins was born March 21, 1944, in Marion County, Ohio, to Oliver Milton Johnston and Evelyn Louise Pace Johnston. She was a homemaker and a former employee of The Olde Homestead. She was preceded her in death by her husband, the Rev. Lowell C. Askins, former pastor of Coggins Memorial Baptist Church, on May 8, 2006. Surviving are her son, Craig Steve Askins and wife, Lori, of Lexington; two daughters, Teresa Marie Borjon and her husband, Tomas, of Millsap, Texas, and Rachel Louise Rutherford and her husband, David, of Keller, Texas; seven grandchildren, Nathan, Megan, Ryan and Aaron Westmoreland, Hope and Matthew Askins and Ashley Rutherford; her mother of Delaware, Ohio; and two sisters, Marie Ann Nothstine of Columbus, Ohio, and Phyllis Messer of Delaware, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Coggins Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 1306 S. Main St., Lexington, NC 27292.
