Claughton Eugene Eggers

Claughton Eugene “Gene” Eggers age 77, of Lauderdale Lakes, Fl, Florida passed away Wednesday (12-17-2008) at the home of his son. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home South, Ft. Lauderdale, FL on December 22, 2008. Visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to service. Mr. Eggers was born in Cherokee County, NC on March 7, 1931 to William Clifton Eggers, Sr. and Josephine Newton Eggers. A devoted husband and father he was a retired mechanic with the US Postal Service. He served in the US Army in the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth Keener Eggers who passed away on February 22, 2003, and a sister Lois Hyatt. Surviving are two sons; Gary Eggers and wife Ahngela of Winston-Salem, NC, Byron “Ron” Eggers, wife Hollie of Del Ray Beach, Florida; a daughter; Lorrie Ten Hoeve and husband Troy of New Jersey; a brother William C. Eggers, Jr. of Maiden, NC; a sister Louise Groves of Gastonia, NC; four grandchildren; Lynsey, Taylor, Benjamin and Francesca. A visitation will be held at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel on Friday, December 19, 2008 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Memorial may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, P. O.
