Clayton Eugene Swicegood

Clayton Eugene Swicegood, 96, of Lexington, passed away Friday, November 14, 2025 at his home.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Mt. Carmel Church of Lexington with Rev. John Craig, Rev. Sandy Young and Rev. Judge Jimmy Myers officiating the service with interment to follow at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service.

Mr. Swicegood was born in Davidson County to the late Zula Elizabeth Swicegood Grubb and he was preceded in death by his wife and sweetheart of 68 years, Pegge.

Surviving are his children, Joan Harris, Amy Hartman, and Lori & Randy Blevins, all of Lexington; grandchildren, Jordan Harris (Amanda), Bill Brooks (Becky) and Matt Harris (Lauren) and 7 great-grandchildren, Lillian, Joseph, Emma, Hannah, Shelby, Hattie and Calvin. He was also blessed with many nieces, nephews, cousins, “adopted family” and special friends from every aspect of life. He loved Jesus, his church, writing verses and poetry, teaching, history and genealogy, fishing with his buddies, and building all sorts of things. But, as with most fathers and grandfathers it was the grandsons and great grandchildren that brought his happiest days. His family want to give thanks to our extended family, friends, neighbors, church, and caregivers.
