Son of the late Nettie B. & Clyde C. Gobble, Sr., he was born on March 16, 1932. Survived by his wife of 29 years, Bonnie Gobble, his children Dawn (George) Hoback of Wilmington, NC, and Ross (Kathy) Gobble of Clemmons, sisters, Margaret Pressley, Marie Snyder, brother-in-law Gilbert R Marriott and first wife of 29 years Shirley Taylor Marriott.
A veteran of the Navy during the Korean War, after which he was affiliated with Taylor Insurance Agency for 20+ years. Creative restlessness led him to pursue his passion for making pottery. At the age of 42 he took a leap of faith, leaving the business world, to spend the next forty years making functional pottery cherished by countless collectors.
An avid potter, Clyde had many avocations too. He loved airplanes and anything to do with Space. He was a boater & water-skier, and lover of plants, with amazing azalea gardens that he and Bonnie toiled many hours crafting, and sharing with so many over the years. He loved creating them on his Bobcat, which he used with a big smile again even in his final days. He had an infectious laugh and smile, inspiring and influencing many, especially his children, of whom he was immensely proud. A cat lover, he considered them his family too.
Although challenged by illness, he never stopped making pottery. He gave his life to the clay, and the clay gave him a life that will be remembered forever.
